Community Benefit
Giving Back to the Community
At Owatonna Hospital and Allina Hospitals & Clinics, we're involved in improving the health of the communities we serve not only in medical settings, but wherever people live, learn and work. We support these and other efforts.
In fact in 2008, Owatonna Hospital gave back more than $4 million to the community in community benefit investments. These include community benefit programs and initiatives that are listed below; unreimbursed costs from Medicare, Medicaid and insurance companies; and uncompensated care, which is care provided without receiving payment (charity care and bad debt).
We also work with the Independent School District #761 by subsidizing their athletic training program by providing sports medicine care from our own Center for Rehab & Wellness athletic trainer, T.C. and Jen Lorenzo at athletic events and practices. In addition, we work with area schools offering school group tours and participating as a training site for Owatonna High School’s TOP Team Program—a school-to-work and apprenticeship learning program.
Owatonna Hospital is a committed community partner and actively participates in the following initiatives:
Charitable Giving, including the United Way of Steele County
Heart Safe Communities project
Healthy Communities magazine
Allina Financial Assistance Services
