On Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, Owatonna Hospital launched Allina's electronic medical record system, enhancing the way in which Owatonna Hospital delivers your care.
An electronic medical record is a computerized version of your paper medical record. You now have one electronic medical record that is shared by all of your Allina providers. This delivers a more complete picture of your medical history, allowing your provider to make the best recommendations about your medical care.
Advantages of an electronic medical record system
With this new system, your provider can view your complete medical history with a few computer mouse clicks, giving immediate access to your information.
The new system automatically cross-checks any new prescriptions your doctor is considering to ensure there are no negative interactions with your allergies or current medications.
Getting test results is timelier. Your provider can review your results as soon as they are posted to your electronic medical record.
Because each Allina facility can share your record, you only need to provide your health information once. After that, all you need to do is verify that the information is up-to-date.
Advanced security
As always, the privacy of your medical information is strictly protected. Only medical providers and personnel involved in your care can access your medical record.
