Two community residents join the Owatonna Hospital Board of Trustees
OWATONNA, Minn. 11/12/2008--Owatonna Hospital has named two new members to the Owatonna Hospital Board of Trustees. The hospital board represents a diverse group of community leaders and corporate executives who bring an extensive and diverse background of skills and abilities. New board trustees include Kelly Harder and Lt. Col. Robert Intress.
Kelly Harder is the director of Steele County Human Services. He has been with Steele County Human Services for the past three years and resides in Owatonna. Harder holds a master’s degree in social work with an emphasis in business from the University of North Dakota. He also has a bachelor’s degree in business and social work from Concordia College, Moorhead. As a human services director, Harder has worked closely with health care related issues from the perspective of the consumer, purchaser, provider and health care plans.
Lt. Col. Intress is the operational planner for the Department of Military Affairs, Minnesota Army National Guard, and is the Battalion Commander of the 1st Battalion, 194th Armor Regiment, Brainerd. He holds a master’s degree in education leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a bachelor’s of science nursing degree from Winona State University. He has received multiple military medals and awards including the Bronze Star; Combat Infrantryman’s Badge; Gen. Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award; US Army Ranger Tab; four Meritorious Service medals; U.S. Army Air Assault, Airborne and Pathfinder Badges; and the order of St. Maurice.
About Owatonna Hospital
The new Owatonna Hospital will be connected to the current Owatonna Clinic-Mayo Health System 26th Street location, off Interstate 35, creating a health care campus. The facility will be designed to create an environment for providing high quality, safe, patient-centered care for residents in the region.
Owatonna Hospital and Allina Hospitals & Clinics are taking a leadership role to promote healthy eating and physical activity through their heart healthy living and obesity initiatives with an emphasis on childhood obesity. Over the next five years, Allina and Owatonna Hospital will be working with community organizations to improve nutrition and increase physical activity to decrease obesity and improve heart health.
