Lost babies bring people together at Walk to Remember
FRIDLEY, Minn. 09/14/2008--Families who have experienced the loss of a baby before or after delivery are invited to the eleventh annual Walk to Remember. Parents, extended family and staff from Mercy and Unity hospitals will remember and honor babies by participating in the walk and a candle-lighting ceremony.
Last year, more than 50 people attended. In addition to the traditional ceremony, some played music, read poems, and enjoyed refreshments.
"The walk to remember is a special event where families, physicians and care providers come together to share their thoughts, feelings, memories, and spend time together," said Maggie Fettig, nurse manager of Unity’s Family Birthing Center.
The walk will be held on Saturday, October 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Springbrook Nature Center, 85th Ave. NE & University Ave. NE in Fridley.
For more information about the event, contact the Perinatal Loss Program at 763-236-4409.
Mercy and Unity, located in Coon Rapids and Fridley, are non-profit hospitals that serve the northwestern Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The hospitals are part of Allina Hospitals & Clinics. # # #
