Free Running Clinic to cover preventing running injuries, learning running techniques
OWATONNA, Minn. 03/19/2009--Almost 75 percent of all runners are injured each year, and most running and endurance sports injuries are caused by overuse and training errors. To learn more about how to prevent running injuries and learn the right techniques for running, plan to attend the free Running Clinic Thursday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Stewart Holmes Conference Room, Owatonna Hospital.
The Running Clinic, sponsored by Owatonna Hospital's Center for Rehab & Wellness and the RunSMART program, will cover a variety of topics:
- Marathon training presented by Brian Bunkers, MD, Owatonna Clinic
- Biomechanics of running and orthotics presented by Barry Butler, DPM, Advanced Foot and Ankle Clinic, LLP
- Running stretches presented by Greg Lenz, physical therapist (PT) and certified athletic trainer (ATC), Owatonna Hospital
- Choosing the right running shoe presented by Brooke Deshler, PT, Owatonna Hospital
- Acute injury management and dehydration, presented by "TC" Carlyle, ATC, Owatonna Hospital
In addition, Owatonna Shoe will have a variety of running shoes on display.
