Owatonna Hospital launches Facebook page

OWATONNA, Minn. 11/30/2009--Owatonna Hospital has joined the social networking site of Facebook in an effort to better engage current and future patients and the general public. These pages provide easy access to information about Owatonna Hospital, daily news, upcoming events and current updates on activities at the hospital.

The Owatonna Hospital fan page can be used as an interactive forum for health-related topics. In addition, the Owatonna Hospital Facebook page includes: General Information, Event Calendar, Photos and Links to Owatonna Hospital In the News.

Social media sites support the hospital’s mission of providing exceptional patient care by educating the public about the prevention and treatment of medical conditions.

"This is a great opportunity for us to interact and connect with our patients and visitors," said Debra Brase, marketing and communications manager, Owatonna Hospital. "Facebook 'fans' can receive the up-to-date information about the hospital, services, programs and upcoming health-related events. We’re excited to be a part of the social media network and hope the public finds our pages beneficial."

Research shows that the more interactive dialog people have about something, the more interest and trust they have in it. With Facebook and other social networking technologies, Owatonna Hospital can reach more people than relying on traditional media outlets alone.

Anyone who is a member of Facebook can check out the Owatonna Hospital's Page on Facebook as a "fan." Those who are not members of Facebook can still view the Owatonna Hospital Facebook page, but will need to join Facebook to interact.
