Laurie Ridgley joins Owatonna Hospital as Birth Center nurse manager
OWATONNA, Minn. 04/27/2009--Laurie Ridgley, RN, has been named manager of the Owatonna Hospital Birth Center. She is responsible for overseeing patient care standards and safety, nurse staffing and education.
With 35 years of experience in healthcare, Ridgley brings with her an extensive clinical background focused on labor and delivery, maternal-child health and nursing leadership. Most recently, she served as director of Nursing at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, Minn.
From 2004, she was Ridge’s director of Maternal Child Health. From 2000, she managed the hospital’s departments of Labor and Delivery, Special Care Nursery, Pediatrics and Postpartum Care. Under her leadership, the hospital created a neonatal intensive care unit, established simulation training in obstetrics and developed a lactation program.
Other past experience includes serving as a clinical nurse specialist in Obstetrics in New Jersey. She also managed Labor and Delivery and Obstetrical Testing at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Ridgley’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Winona State College and a master’s degree in nursing from Rutgers University.
She serves on the board of Dakota Healthy Families, volunteers for Feed My Starving Children, and participates in Race for the Cure and Medical Explorers.
She and her husband, Mike, have six children, three grandchildren and two dachshunds.
