Volunteering with hospice and palliative care has many rewards for you as well
as the patients and families that we serve. We offer a variety of opportunities
utilizing your special talents and skills.
Hospice is a comprehensive service for patients who have a prognosis of six
months or less and their families. Care is provided wherever the patient is
calling home and helps those who are no longer actively seeking a medical cure.
At hospice we are dedicated to providing the quality care needed to meet the
physical, spiritual and psychosocial needs of our patients and their loved ones.
We rely on volunteers and need your help
Direct Patient Volunteers
Hospice volunteers are sensitive, respectful and caring individuals with a desire
to help patients and their families. There are numerous ways that volunteers
can help, such as staying with a patient while a caregiver has a chance to take
a break, visiting, or doing errands for the family. Being a hospice volunteer
enables you to help others at a special time in their life, build your skills,
and experience a great deal of self satisfaction. Eighteen hours of free training,
flexibility, ongoing support and education are provided.
Support Volunteers
Support volunteers help in ways that support the entire organization. Opportunities
include volunteering in our St. Paul office helping out with administrative
duties and can include, data entry, mailing projects, and project assembly.
Scheduling for these opportunities are flexible. Other opportunities could include
assistance in planning special events in our development department.
We are looking for volunteers 18 years of age and older to give on average a
